The all new Shutdown Controller is here!
Shutdown Controller v4.0 has been officially released and is now available for immediate
downloading. For information about the new features, see below.
Shutdown Controller allows you to simplify the shutting down and/or restarting of
remote machines on a Windows network.
It is an invaluable tool for any network administrator who requires computers to
be shutdown or rebooted from a central location, for events such as the installation
of security updates that require a restart, or shutting down computers at the end
of the day etc.
Shutdown Controller 4.0 now runs with native Windows APIs and can be used to remotely
shutdown and restart computers running:
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows XP Home*
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows 2000
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows Vista
*Functionality is severely limited with this version of Windows
System Requirements
Shutdown Controller requires Microsoft Windows 2000 or later installed to run. For
the best experience, Microsoft Windows XP Professional is recommended.
Shutdown Controller also requires that you have the Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0
or higher installed. The setup will download it for you if you do not have it installed
already, or you can install it from
Microsoft Update. It is approximately 23.1 MB and is only required on the
host computer, not the target computers.

Shutdown Controller v4.0 Features
The latest version contains lots of brand new features designed to increase ease
of use of Shutdown Controller.
The main new features include:
- Completely redesigned interface
- New task scheduler
- Shutdown Controller help
- Vastly improved stability
- Rebuilt from the ground up using the .NET Framework 2.0
- Brand new updater client
The new user interface was designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind. The
old method of executing tasks either in groups of computers, ranges of computers
or individually has been scrapped in place for a much more efficient single section
that encompasses all three methods of adding computers to a single area instead
of three. In addition, the blue and yellow has been replaced with a varient of the
current Windows theme which allows for a vast reduction in screen sizes, as well
as increased visual appeal.
Shutdown Controller v4.0 also contains the brand new Task Scheduler. The Task Scheduler
allows you to create tasks to run at a specified time of the day on specified days
of the week. This automation allows you to free yourself from the repetitive action
of shutting down computers at the end of the day if people forget to shutdown etc.
Along with these new features, there are plenty more new features, improvements
and bug fixes also. For a complete listing, please consult the
version changes.
